Safety & Community Guidelines
Last updated: July 2, 2026
Matchu is built on respect, authenticity, and safety. These guidelines explain what we expect from everyone who uses the Service, how we enforce our rules, and how you can protect yourself while meeting new people.
1. Be real
Use your real photos, your real age, and accurate information about yourself. AI-generated portraits, photos of other people, heavily edited images that misrepresent your appearance, and false profile details are not allowed and will result in account termination.
2. Respect others
Treat everyone with courtesy. Do not:
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or bully any user;
- Send unwanted sexual content, nudity, or explicit images;
- Use hate speech or slurs based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic;
- Spam, scam, phish, or attempt to defraud other users;
- Share another person's private information without consent (doxing);
- Impersonate any person or entity.
3. Zero tolerance for objectionable content
Matchu enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy for content and behavior that harms others. This includes:
- Sexual content involving minors or any depiction of minors in a sexual or suggestive context;
- Non-consensual intimate imagery;
- Credible violence, gore, or the abuse of people or animals;
- Promotion of terrorism, extremism, or organized violence;
- Solicitation of sex work, prostitution, or the exchange of sexual acts for anything of value;
- Sale or distribution of illegal drugs, weapons, or other unlawful goods or services.
Violations result in immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
4. In-person safety tips
Meeting someone new is exciting — stay safe by following these practices:
- Meet in public. Choose a well-populated venue for your first few meetings.
- Tell someone. Share your plans, location, and who you're meeting with a trusted friend or family member.
- Transport yourself. Arrange your own ride to and from the date so you can leave whenever you want.
- Stay sober. Keep a clear head, especially on early dates.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it is okay to end the date early or decline to meet.
- Keep personal info private. Do not share your home address, workplace details, financial information, or passwords.
Matchu does not conduct criminal background checks. Interactions with other users are at your own risk.
5. Reporting and blocking
Every profile and message thread includes a Report and Block button. If you experience or witness a violation of these guidelines, report it immediately. Our Trust & Safety team reviews reports, typically within 24 hours.
When you block a user, they can no longer see your profile or contact you. Blocking is immediate and does not notify the other person.
6. How we enforce these guidelines
Matchu uses a combination of automated tools and human review:
- Automated screening scans photos, profile text, and messages for prohibited content (nudity, CSAM signals, violence, spam, AI-generated imagery, hate speech).
- User reports are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team.
- Account actions range from warnings and content removal to temporary suspension or permanent termination, depending on severity and history.
There is no appeal for accounts terminated for child safety, threats of violence, or sexual exploitation.
7. Appeals
If your account or content was restricted and you believe it was a mistake, you may appeal to safety@matchu.dating. Include your account email and a clear explanation. We do not guarantee reinstatement, but we review every appeal.
