Terms of Service

Welcome to Matchu. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Matchu ("Matchu", "we", "us") governing your access to and use of the Matchu mobile applications, website at matchu.dating, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility — 18+ only

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. Matchu is strictly for adults. You represent and warrant that you are 18 or older, that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that you are not barred from using the Service under the laws of your jurisdiction. If we learn or reasonably suspect that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account immediately and delete associated data.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information about yourself, and to keep that information up to date. One person, one account. You may not transfer your account to anyone else.

3. Real photos only — no AI, no catfishing

Matchu requires real, recent photos of you. AI-generated portraits, heavily edited or filtered images that materially alter your appearance, photos of other people, celebrities, cartoons, or stock images are prohibited and will be rejected or removed. Repeated violations result in permanent account termination.

4. Acceptable use & user-generated content

You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, prompts, voice intros, messages, etc.), but you grant Matchu a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

You agree not to post, send, or upload content that:

• Depicts or involves minors in any sexual or suggestive context;
• Is sexually explicit, pornographic, or contains nudity;
• Depicts violence, gore, self-harm, or the abuse of people or animals;
• Is threatening, harassing, hateful, or discriminatory on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
• Promotes terrorism, extremism, or organized violence;
• Solicits sex work, prostitution, or the exchange of sexual acts for anything of value;
• Facilitates the sale of drugs, weapons, or other illegal goods or services;
• Is fraudulent, deceptive, spam, or attempts to phish or scam other users;
• Infringes any intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity right;
• Contains malware, viruses, or code designed to disrupt or harm the Service.

5. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

Matchu enforces a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior. We reserve the right to remove any content and terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for any violation. There is no appeal for accounts terminated for child safety, threats of violence, or sexual exploitation.

6. Moderation and enforcement

Matchu combines automated tooling and human review to enforce these Terms:

• Automated screening. Uploaded photos, profile text, and messages are automatically screened for prohibited content (nudity, CSAM signals, violence, spam, AI-generated imagery, hate speech). Suspected matches are blocked, flagged, or queued for human review.
• In-app reporting. Every profile and every message thread includes a Report and Block control. Reports are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team, typically within 24 hours.
• Enforcement actions. Depending on severity we may warn a user, remove content, restrict features, temporarily suspend, or permanently terminate the account. Serious violations — including CSAM, credible threats, or non-consensual intimate imagery — are reported to appropriate authorities (including NCMEC where applicable).
• Contact. Report abuse or urgent safety concerns to safety@matchu.dating.

7. Safety & assumption of risk

Matchu does not conduct criminal background checks on its users. Interactions with other users, whether online or in person, are at your own risk. Meet in public places, tell someone where you're going, and trust your instincts. Matchu is not responsible for the conduct of any user of the Service.

8. Subscriptions & in-app purchases

Matchu is free to download and use for core features.

• MatchU+ — $14.99 / month.
• MatchUX — $39.99 / month.

Premium subscriptions are coming soon and will be available as in-app purchases. Prices are shown in USD; local currency and taxes may vary. All purchases will be processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, subject to their respective terms.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew for the same billing period at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds. All purchases are final. Refunds, where offered, are handled by Apple or Google under their standard policies. Matchu does not process refunds directly.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the app's Settings screen, or by following the process at matchu.dating/delete-account. We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we believe termination is necessary to protect the Service or other users.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATCHU DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT YOU WILL FIND A MATCH.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MATCHU AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 USD OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except where prohibited by applicable consumer law.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

SMS Program Terms

This section is a standalone SMS-program disclosure preserved for CTIA / carrier / TCR compliance review.

Program description

Matchu's SMS program sends account authentication codes only — one-time passcodes (OTP), login verification codes, and identity verification codes — to users who opt in by providing a mobile number during sign-up or login. Matchu does not send marketing, promotional, match notifications, date scheduling, or any other non-authentication messages via SMS.

Message frequency

Messages are sent only when you initiate a sign-in or verification action. Typical frequency is 1–5 messages per login attempt.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details on your plan.

Opt-in

By submitting your mobile number and confirming opt-in (via the explicit consent checkbox at sign-up or login), you agree to receive automated verification SMS messages from Matchu. Consent is not a condition of purchase or general use of Matchu beyond the SMS verification program itself.

Supported carriers

Supported on major US carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
